ARTIST STATEMENT

Hi, I’m Alice Goidea, a visual artist based in Bucharest working under the name algo7.

My practice blends traditional and contemporary techniques to create delicate, symbolic compositions inspired by memory, objects and flowers. My work is rooted in sensitivity, symbolism and emotional atmosphere. Raised by my grandparents in a home full of light, handcrafted objects and botanical presence, I’ve always been drawn to the poetry of everyday life. Embroidered linens, vintage household items and soft natural textures have shaped my sense of beauty and belonging.

In the past, I worked with gouache, ink, colored pencils, pastels and collage. Since 2023, I have been focusing on oil painting a medium I began studying through the classical realist training at The Florence Academy of Art. I now work from my studio in Bucharest, where I continue to apply this traditional approach to observation and technique. Still life painting in oil became a turning point for me. It allowed me to materialize visions I couldn’t quite achieve before, capturing the fleeting beauty of flowers, the intimacy of objects and the atmosphere they create.

I’m interested in aesthetics rooted in calmness, pastel tones and emotional detail. Through my work, I hope to encourage a slower gaze and deeper appreciation for transient moments: that flower, that mood, that light… just once.

BIO

Alice Goidea (b. 1987, Romania) is a visual artist based in Bucharest, working under the alias algo7. She is a licensed pharmacist, but later chose to fully transition into the visual arts. Over the years, she completed professional training in photography, graphic design and make-up artistry, and worked as a make-up artist and graphic designer. Alongside this professional background, Alice has gradually developed her personal artistic path, selling original paintings and collaborating locally on small illustration-based projects. In 2024 and 2025, she began formal training in classical still life oil painting at the Florence Academy of Art under Hannah Sutton, Tanvi Pathare and Troy Argyros, an academic experience that brought new clarity to her intuitive practice.
